Welcome to the world sweet Layla Grace!! Beautiful little 7 lb 10 oz, 18.5 inch long bundle of baby perfection! Even though she was measuring ahead of schedule, and mom was certain she was going to be born early like her sister, she was born right on time! Mama was admitted to be induced, and all it took was a full moon, and one dose of a cervix softener and her water broke on its own. Five hours later, at 3:44 a.m., little Layla was born!
Courtney is a fellow photographer, also from Florida, and we met one evening when we exchanged family photos at the Wildlife Refuge. They are proudly displayed on my wall, and I still admire them every day! Then she chose ME to be her birth photographer and I was SO excited and honored! I shot her family maternity session in Forsyth Park, and again we had the best time. They are the sweetest little family. Nick is an amazing husband and father. He loves his girls so very much and he is not afraid to show it!
I had only been home 30 minutes from a beach session when Courtney texted that her water had broken, and mild contractions were starting. Her first daughter Jamie was born so quickly that I didn’t feel comfy waiting until 4-5 cm dilation like normal. I would rather be there a few hours early, than risk missing the birth. So I headed up there, grabbing some Pilot coffee along the way, and we were all so happy I did. After a mama pays for me to capture this special time, I don’t want her stressing out about whether or not I will make it in time!
Courtney can handle pain like a champ! As a mama with 3 natural births under my belt (ha, literally!), I know what the pain of hard contractions feels like. She even laughed through some of them! Then when the vomiting and shaking started, we knew she was close. Nick was so supportive, and there every moment to hold her hand, and gently rub her back. He just wanted her to know he was there, and willing to do whatever she wanted. I will never forget the look of concern, helplessness, and love in his eyes watching her through contractions. If he could take her pain, he gladly would’ve in a heartbeat. It only took a few good pushes, and baby Layla was here! Perfectly pink, and love at first sight.
Courtney and Nick, I can’t thank you enough for inviting me into your special birth space. Baby Layla is one lucky little girl to have parents like you. Your deep love for each other and your family is obvious and is so sweet to see. I wish you quick and happy healing, lots of rest, and I hope your friends and family showers you with all the love in the world! I will miss you, and I am looking forward to seeing you again in the future! Hugs!!

She was allowed to get out of bed and try the birth ball, which we were all very happy about!
Getting close!!
Welcome sweet baby girl! Born 3:44 a.m. on a Monday morning!
Daddy gets to cut the cord! Oh, he is so proud of his girl. Great job mama!!!
7 pounds 10 ounces. I think daddy was closest on her weight, if I remember correctly!
Two of my favorites! Look at those wide, open eyes, for only being like an hour new!
I am in love with this one too. Such a beautiful moment!
Oh my goodness, the wrinkly feet!!
XOXO
