Eleanor and Bill chose the Tybee Island Wedding Chapel for their intimate winter wedding in February. The Tybee Island Wedding Chapel is a gorgeous Georgia wedding venue that’s very close to downtown Savannah. They were surrounded by close family and neighbors, and everyone was so genuinely happy for these two. There were so many special pieces to this day and this whole story, I was so thankful to be the one to capture it. It all ran so smoothly thanks to their wonderful planner, Jill Robertson.
As a Savannah wedding photographer, I love working with couples and hearing their love stories!
Prom night back in 1973 was their first AND only date, until 44 years later! Lots of life happened in between, and eventually found their way back to each other. They dated for 2 years, Bill proposed on Christmas day, and they are married 2 months later. Bill’s cousin is Eleanor’s best friend, Matron of Honor, and the one responsible for getting these two back together.
Eleanor belonged in a magazine with her beautifully detailed gown, sparkly shoes, and sweet veil that was actually was made from her mother’s veil. She also wore her mothers lace gloves. Her gorgeous bouquet made by Kati Esser Designs was wrapped in lace, with a handkerchief that belonged to Bills’ great grandmother. Tiny framed photos of her 4 cats were even pinned to the lace. So precious!
Bill was so handsome in his blue suit, green floral tie, and cuff links that belonged to his father. His son Nate also wore cuff links from his grandfather.
Wayne Rackley played “It Is Well With My Soul” on the piano while Eleanor walked down the aisle. Eleanor and Bill were married by Mr. Kenny Grant, who is Eleanor’s church pastor. He really planned a special ceremony for them.
There’s the fur babies!
After the ceremony we took just a couple photos (it was soooo cold!), then headed to the Olde Pink House for the lunch reception (and some quick photos in Reynolds Square!)! They had their own little room, decorated with sweet family photos, signs, even the prom picture from 1973! They ordered lunch, had champagne and cake, and enjoyed each other’s company. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room after Nate’s emotional toast to his dad and new step mother.
One more thing about Bill- he made this gorgeous cake, can you believe it? Kati decorated it with flowers, but Bill baked and iced that baby himself. I bet you didn’t know that the recipe is actually famous! His great-grandmother owned the Lane Hotel in Sylvania, where the Lane Cake was first created. The recipe was published by Southern Living Magazine!
The prom photo, and sweet toast. 🙂
It was a lovely day, with a lovely couple who are truly meant to be together! Congratulations again!
P.S… Bill and Eleanor, I hope you are enjoying Italy! Have some gelato for me!
